Inside and Outside the Campus

The Training for Life Campus will serve as a lifelong community hub and center, and will inspire our athletes so that they may be continue to develop physical and social skills they need to be as productive and independent as possible. This campus will be both symbolic and practical for our athletes, coaches and volunteers, and will represent a real sense of home for future generations of athletes who touch the lives of so many Missourians.

Outdoor spaces
The campus is designed to accommodate training, practice and competitive events for some of SOMO's most popular sports programs, including a track, tennis courts, softball field, bocce courts, soccer fields, wellness trail, and multi-sport training areas, just to name a few. Patios and observation decks overlook multiple outdoor sports fields on the 16.5-acre campus.

Indoor spaces
Inside the facility, a large multipurpose arena will accommodate training for basketball, volleyball, powerlifting and fitness activities. A large fitness center with locker rooms will also serve the athletes. The facility will also house three large multipurpose spaces, which can be used for classroom learning for athletes, training for coaches and other volunteers, and large events. Multiple conference rooms and professional office space for SOMO statewide and Central Area staff round out the interior space. The facility exceeds ADA requirements for safety and accessibility.

The interior lobby of the main facility of the SOMO Training for Life Campus will feature an accessible entrance,
natural light and access to classroom training rooms and the indoor sports arena.

The campus will provide enrichment opportunities for existing SOMO programs, as well as bringing many new programs to athletes and special needs children, such as life skills training, exercise programs, and even intervention services for children as young as three with our Young Athletes program. These additional programs are specifically designed to improve health, fitness, and socialization among our athletes.

Healthy Athletes space
One of the distinctive features of the Training for Life Campus is a medical clinic space for our Healthy Athletes program. SOMO has pioneered innovations in this signature Special Olympics program, which provides professional medical, dental and vision care services for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The Healthy Athletes clinical areas will provide screening rooms for vision, dental, hearing and foot care. Local medical professionals will volunteer their time and services to provide these important screening services for our athletes, many of whom lack access to basic and specialty care.

Recognition opportunities
Naming opportunities are still available for several high-profile areas of the campus, and recognition opportunities for athletes, teams, families and organizations are also available inside the facility, starting at just $500. Learn more.
